Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song welcomed their first child together and named him after his late sister who died after a tragic car accident.
The 40-year-old former Home Alone child star is “thrilled” and named his son Dakota.

Macaulay welcomed the baby with his girlfriend Brenda last week.

According to Esquire, the little boy was born in Los Angeles on April 5 at 1:10 p.m. and weighed 6 lbs 14 oz.

Dakota is said to be a tribute to Macaulay’s late sister, who sadly passed away from her injuries after walking past a moving vehicle outside a Los Angeles bar in 2008.

A spokeswoman said at the time that Macaulay described the death of his sister Dakota as a “terrible tragic accident”.

There was no criminal investigation following the accident as it was found that the driver was not drunk or was driving inappropriately and attempted to help Dakota at the scene.

Macaulay met Brenda on the set of Changeland in 2017. The couple have kept their pregnancy a secret from the public and did not announce that they were waiting until they told the world they were parents.

Speaking to Esquire, Macaulay had previously joked about becoming a father, but said at the time that there were a number of factors to consider.

He said, “We train a lot. We think about it, make the right timing. Because nothing turns you on more than when your wife walks into the room and says, “Honey, I’m ovulating. ”

Brenda told the magazine, “You can’t be with him and not be happy. People don’t realize how incredibly kind and loyal and sweet and intelligent he is. “
