Helen McCrory appeared on Good Morning Britain last month in what was to be her last television appearance.
Helen’s death from cancer at the age of 52 was announced yesterday by her heartbroken husband Damian Lewis.

In March, Helen and Damian made a joint appearance on GMB as they spoke via a link from their home about their recent charity work.

The actor couple had been busy during the lockdown working with the Prince’s Trust, of which they were both ambassadors – reports Mirror Online.

But as host Kate Garraway said, “Are you okay, Helen?

“You sound a little croaking. Do you have a sore throat?

The Peaky Blinders star replied with a smile, “I have kids! ”

Following Friday’s tragic news, fans recalled the meeting and praised Helen for promoting her charitable work just six weeks before her death.

The Harry Potter star’s cancer diagnosis had been kept secret.

In addition to their work with the Prince’s Trust, Helen and Damian raised over £ 1million for Feed NHS during the first coronavirus lockdown – to provide hot meals for frontline staff.

Helen’s husband Damian posted the heartbreaking news on Twitter in a moving statement on Friday.

He told fans that his “beautiful” wife passed away peacefully at home after a “heroic battle with cancer”.

He said: “I am heartbroken to announce that after a heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and powerful woman Helen McCrory passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and of family.

“She died as she lived, without fear. God, we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brilliantly. Go now, Little One, up in the air, and thank you.

HeleN rose to fame with film credits, including Interview with a Vampire, 1994, and for her critically acclaimed performance as Cherie Blair in The Queen in 2006.

She gained a new generation of fans for her role as Draco Malfoy’s mother, Narcissa, in the Harry Potter film franchise and for starring in the hugely popular Peaky Blinders as Polly Gray.

Helen is survived by Lewis and their two children Manon and Gulliver.
