Bordeaux 0-3 Monaco
Gelson Martins scored for the first time since November on Sunday afternoon, marking his return to Monaco’s Ligue 1 lineup with a goal in their victory at Bordeaux.

The Portugal international has made his way to top form after a knee injury that sidelined him for nearly three months. After making his comeback with an appearance against Metz earlier this month before making his Coupe de France debut against the same opposition, Gelson has been reinstated in the lineup for the Ligue 1 trip to Bordeaux in the hope of helping his team to challenge the title.

The former Sporting player played 75 minutes at Matmut Atlantique on the right side of Robert Kovac’s attack and was considered one of the most impressive players for the visitors, who also introduced Florentino Luís in the finals. . Gelson’s afternoon was capped by the second goal, rushing to finish calmly a few minutes after the restart to double Monaco’s advantage.

Speaking on social media later that night, Gelson said he was “very happy with the goal” as Monaco maintained their two-point distance behind the Lille leader in what appears to be an enthralling title race in France. Only three points separate the top four heading into the last five matches, with Monaco having one of the most promising match lists as they also prepare for a Coupe de France quarter-final with Lyon in midweek.
