Erling Haaland’s father sent a message to Manchester City after knocking Borussia Dortmund out of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Pep Guardiola’s men advance to the semi-finals of the competition after winning 4-2 on aggregate against the Bundesliga side.

He sets up a clash against Paris Saint-Germain, who sent Bayern Munich home on Tuesday night.

On both nights, all eyes were on Haaland – which has been linked with a move to the Etihad this summer.

But it was another young player who stole the show from Phil Foden, whose two excellent goals in both legs helped his childhood squad through the team of Edin Terzic.

In the first leg, the 20-year-old appeared with a late winner and did the same on Wednesday night after his long-range effort surprised Marwin Hitz and sneaked into the bottom corner.

With Haaland headlining, the Norway international was largely anonymous on both sets – although he was involved in the preparations for Dortmund’s opener last night.

City are not the only ones interested in his services, Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also excited.

Haaland’s father Alf-Inge played for Manchester’s blue half – and he was quick to deliver a message to his former side after seeing his son get knocked out of the Champions League.

He said, “Bravo City. Congratulations, but, strange benchmark decisions on both legs. Good luck on the next round. “

There were a few controversial calls, the biggest on the first leg when Jude Bellingham nipped Ederson’s ball to score.

But the referee had blown for a foul, despite replays showing very little contact.

Bellingham was another star who wowed spectators after two great performances and it was his goal that made Dortmund dream in the second leg.

However, a penalty was awarded after the break when ex-Liverpool star Emre Can directed the ball on his own arm to allow Riyad Mahrez to equalize.

The Reds were knocked out of the competition that same night as they failed to reverse a two-goal deficit against Real Madrid, who will face Chelsea in the semi-finals after their 2-1 win over Porto.
