Tottenham’s new sponsor Dulux has apologized for a series of social media posts following the announcement of the Premier League club’s partnership with the paint brand on Thursday.

The two sides confirmed their new relationship on Thursday, but soon after, Dulux’s official Twitter account sent out articles shedding light on Tottenham’s defensive struggles this season and the club’s lack of silver in recent years.

The posts were quickly deleted from Dulux’s account, but several social media users took screenshots which circulated on Twitter throughout the day.

“We are deeply sorry for Dulux’s messages this morning in response to the announcement of our relationship with @SpursOfficial,” the apology reads.

“It doesn’t reflect how proud we are to be the club’s official paint supplier. We are investigating what happened and apologizing to all Spurs fans. “

The partnership announcement came with footage of the “Dulux dog” at Tottenham Hotspur stadium, prompting a Twitter user to ask, “Can the dog play center-back?”

Dulux responded by saying that the animal, an old English Sheepdog, “might do a better job.” There were also messages that shed light on the void in Tottenham’s trophy cabinet as the north London club have not won a trophy since the 2007-08 League Cup lifted.

Tottenham offered a light response on Twitter, saying the club “will be glossing over him this time”.

The club will have the opportunity to end their trophy drought later this month, when they face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final at Wembley on April 25, live on Sky Sports.

Prior to that, Jose Mourinho’s side resumed their Premier League campaign against Everton on Friday with the Portuguese under pressure to overturn poor form.

Spurs enter the game at Goodison Park, which is live on Sky Sports, seventh in the table with just one victory in their previous four league games.

Kick-off at 8:00 p.m.

Tottenham’s last game was a 3-1 home loss to Manchester United last weekend, and Mourinho admitted he might never be willing to discuss some issues at the club after dropping more points. ‘a winning position.

Only Brighton (20) lost more points than Spurs (18) after winning positions in the league this season, but Mourinho said there were two sides to that statistic.

“I know why it happened,” Mourinho said, speaking ahead of Spurs’ meeting at Everton.

“I also know that you can see things from a different perspective. A team that starts games well, starts winning games, means something positive that you like to forget. The positive side of that, but I agree with you in the sense that when you are in a winning position and you lose points, there are negative things too. “

Pushed for reasons why it keeps happening, Mourinho added: “This is what I’m not ready to discuss with you. I think it has to do with some of our qualities as a team, but I’m not ready to argue with you. “

Asked when he would be ready to discuss this issue, Mourinho replied “maybe never”.
