The hot-selling Seat Ibiza has been refreshed with new interior technology and a range of subtle styling changes.

The supermini has been updated along with its closely related sibling Arona SUV, but the changes for the small car are more subtle and largely focus on technology updates.

The exterior design is largely intact, but LED lights are now standard on both ends, three new alloy wheel designs are available, and the model name is displayed in “handwritten” letters on the rear. Two new colors are also available: sapphire blue and asphalt blue.

Like the Arona, the Ibiza exchanges its integrated touchscreen for a “floating” article inspired by Leon 20% larger, offered in 8.25 inches or 9.2 inches depending on the finish. Positioned closer to the driver’s eye line, it would improve both ergonomics and safety.

The top-level FR Sport and Xcellence cars additionally benefit from a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, while all variants feature a multifunction nappa leather steering wheel, illuminated air vents and a soft touch dashboard.

Smartphone mirroring functionality comes standard, as part of a move to boost Ibiza’s connectivity offering, while voice recognition capability – activated by saying ‘Hola Hola’ – aims to facilitate faster system operation.

Additional new features include a pair of front USB-C ports and a built-in SIM card that provides access to Seat’s eCall emergency response service and other internet-based functions, including data live traffic and gas station prices.

The Ibiza 2021 matches the updated Arona for advanced driving aids, with a ‘semi-autonomous’ travel assist function, lane assist, high beam assist, sign recognition signaling and a blind spot warning.

The all-gasoline powertrain offering includes three 1.0-liter three-cylinder units producing 79 hp, 94 hp or 108 hp. The first two are paired with a five-speed manual, but the more powerful has a choice of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG automatic.
