Charlyne Yi says she tried to break her contract and stop filming Disaster artist when she learned of the charges against her co-star and director James Franco. Instead of listening to her concerns, she says the producers of the 2017 film tried to bribe her with a bigger acting role.

Yi made these allegations in a Post Instagram Friday, involving Seth Rogen, a producer of the film, in the plan to bribe her as well.

“I cried and told them… I didn’t feel safe working with a fucking sexual predator,” Yi wrote. “They played down and said Franco was a predator was so last [year] and that he changed… when I literally heard about him abusing new women that week.

Rogen, Yi said in the accompanying caption, “certainly knows about the bribe and why I quit. “

Most of the allegations against Franco were made in early 2018, when five women accused him of sexual misconduct for incidents that occurred to his theater school that no longer exists.

But even before Yi shoots Disaster artist with Franco, there had long been whispers about the actor’s history of inappropriate sexual behavior, stemming from a 2014 incident in which Franco sent a message to a 17 year old to ask him to meet him in his hotel room. Franco later admitted to punching the teenager, calling him ” bad judgmentIn a TV interview: “In my position, not only do I have to go through the embarrassing rituals of meeting someone, but sometimes this is released to the world,” Franco said at the time.

A few weeks later, Rogen performed a SNL sketch mocking Franco for what he described as an “embarrassing” mistake, rather than something predatory. “I decided to play a prank on James Franco,” Rogen said on the show. “I pretended to be a girl on Instagram, I told her I was very young. He seemed unfazed. I have an appointment with him at the Ace Hotel.

Yi said she chose to share her experience now because April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month; subsequent posts to his Instagram feed discuss consent, trauma and gas use, and criticize Rogen for being a “facilitator” of sexual harassment and abuse.

“Predators will empathize, gas and say they will do better – all in order to protect themselves and continue to harm others,” Yi wrote. “Facilitators are just as toxic and are aggressors too.”
