A cafe manager was forced to apologize after sharing a photo of a receipt online describing customers as “two very boring Asians”.

Shay Hayston, owner of Froth on Brunswick and The Stand in Brisbane, Australia, reportedly shared the image of the receipt on his Snapchat account, captioning it: “Omg, I love my staff,” followed by three emojis that cry laughing.

He then allegedly told concerned customer Alec Madara that it was “just a joke” when he sent a message complaining. Mr Madara said he thought it was “totally unacceptable” for cafe staff to refer to their customers in this way.

In Snapchat screenshots, Mr. Hayston reportedly replied, “Oh, take a rest.” The messages continue: “Oh, get caught. It’s just a joke. Did I say no.

Mr. Madara can be seen responding, “But you are the manager. It’s your job to call a behavior like this. It is unprofessional and inappropriate. ”

“I spoke out against the behavior because it is totally unacceptable these days to refer to customers in this way,” Mr Madara told the Daily Mail.

“Anyone in a leadership role knows that would be totally unacceptable. “

Froth’s social media pages on Brunswick have now been closed to the public while a “formal internal investigation within the company is completed and resolved,” Yahoo reports.

Mr Hayston has since issued a statement apologizing for sharing the receipt and the “misdemeanor and injury” it caused.

He continued: “I have been a business leader in the valley for over six years, personally and professionally invested in diversity.

“I am deeply disappointed and embarrassed by my actions because they go against everything I am proud of. Internally, my team and I will do better to ensure that we maintain the diversity and inclusiveness that are our core concerns. “
