There is a lot of work to do at Arsenal this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to get his squad back up next season.
Arteta may well be under pressure to keep his post if the Gunners fail to qualify for Europe – a factor that would make signing new players all the more difficult.

The club had a decent summer window last time around, but they need to dramatically improve on what they already have and, like most clubs, will likely do so on a budget.

Of course, there could be some expense involved, which would help strengthen the kitty, but the main focus will be to bring in the right players to help turn Arsenal into a force again.

Here are the latest rumors from North London.

Ukrainian star “shortlisted”

Arsenal have reportedly placed KAA forward Gent Roman Yaremchuk on their list of potential targets this summer.

The 25-year-old has been in good form in the Belgian league, already scoring 15 times this season in 27 appearances.

A report by Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws claims (via Sport Witness) that Ghent is ready to part ways with its star man, but only if his valuation of € 20m is met.

Sporting Lisbon have already seen an application rejected, but Yaremtchouk has the opportunity to put himself further in the showcase this summer when he lines up for Ukraine in the Euros.

Keown triggers Lacazette’s warning

Martin Keown issued a firm warning to Mikel Arteta that he could not afford to lose Alexandre Lacazette this summer.

The Frenchman is out of contract in 2022, putting pressure on Arsenal to sell the striker or tie him to a new deal.

Given Lacazette’s years of advancement, Arsenal will be looking at whether to cash it now rather than potentially losing it for nothing next year.

But Keown believes the club shouldn’t even consider that option with their current top scorer.

When asked if Arsenal could afford to let him go, Keown replied: “No, I don’t think you can. I think it’s really, really important. “

He added: “You have a good senior player there, 29 years old, you are wondering if he is going to stay or not. But while he’s here, he’s making it count.

“I think he has a good influence on what surrounds him. Don’t underestimate this. You have to have good professionals around the youngsters and that takes care of itself. “

Hopeful Hammers on Nketiah

Keeping Lacazette may be a bonus for Arsenal, but it would leave question marks over the immediate future of young Eddie Nketiah.

The forward has barely played since the start of the year and faces a battle to hold onto a first-team spot next season.

With Folarin Balogun on the verge of signing a new contract, Nketiah could be better served by seeking regular action elsewhere.

West Ham were interested in loaning the 21-year-old in January and Evening Standard reports David Moyes will return with a new offer.

A temporary switch might be suitable for all parties.

“Untouchable” Odegaard

Arsenal have received a blow in their search for a permanent deal for Martin Odegaard after the midfielder was called one of the four ‘untouchables’ of the Real Madrid squad.

Los Blancos predict a clear summer as Zinedine Zidane tries to make room in his squad for the newcomers.

But according to a report from Marca, Odegaard will not be one of the players sold.

The 22-year-old is part of a fenced-in quartet to protect the club’s future, which also includes Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Federico Valverde.
