MIKEL ARTETA faces growing resentment from upset players to be blamed for Arsenal’s problems in his place.
Senior stars are increasingly frustrated with how boss Arteta has been able to paint a picture that the team’s fault for the bad season is theirs.

SunSport understands that some within the squad believe the Spaniard is all ‘Emperor’s new clothes’ by talking about a good game but failing to deliver.

This is the first sign of cracks starting to appear in the Emirates over the way Arteta has carried out his job in the 15 months he has been in charge.

They wonder why he rejoiced in leading the club to FA Cup glory last season, but is not so keen to take responsibility for bad games.

Instead, they believe he reacted to the disappointing results by often leaving out a big name the following week – making it look like individual players were to blame.

Skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was sacked for the Europa League draw with Slavia Prague after Liverpool’s sad 3-0 beating – a game where Arsenal’s tactics were deemed insufficient.

It is believed that striker Aubameyang’s treatment has not gone unnoticed among players, with other big names suffering from similar issues.

All admit that they haven’t always played well enough, but have struggled at times to know exactly what their coach expects of them.

There is a feeling that midfielder Thomas Partey is not allowed to flourish because of the manager’s ideas.

The lack of team identity, management techniques and tactics in matches have all started to be questioned by some.

And they think the club has allowed the public perception to become one where they abandon their boss.

Arteta defended Aubameyang before the Gunners clash with Sheffield United, saying he was convinced the Gabonese would not become another Mesut Ozil.

And the Spaniard also urged Partey to prove why North Londoners paid £ 45million for him.
