Teenage striker Folarin Balogun pledged his future at Arsenal until summer 2025
Manager Mikel Arteta said: “We are going to make it official when it is official and everything is done, but like I said before, I have always been very sure that he wanted to stay at the club. We are very close.’
Balogun’s contract was due to expire this summer, alerting a series of clubs at home and abroad.
Although Arteta and technical director Edu have managed to convince the New York-born England Under-20 international that the Emirates remain the best place for him to pursue his career.
When asked how they persuaded Balogun to stay when it seemed more likely that he would be gone for a long time, Arteta said: “I’m just trying to understand first why he got to the point where he thought really quit the club after being brought up. here and the feelings he has built towards the club, and once you understand his position try to explain what you want to do, how important he is going to be in the project and how then to get full commitment and the support of the club and Edu, because I think he did an amazing job as well.

Balogun is considered one of the best young forwards in the country.
Prolific at the youth level for the Gunners, Balogun has also shown his potential in his fleeting appearances for Arsenal’s first team this season, scoring twice in five replacement appearances.
He has also scored nine goals and set up two more in 17 Arsenal Under-23 games in this campaign.
Balogun was free to sign a pre-contract deal with a foreign club from January and has been targeted by foreign teams such as Stuttgart, Monaco, RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan.
The possibility of securing Balogun for what would have been discounted pay also tempted Arsenal rivals in the Premier League, Manchester City, Everton and Crystal Palace.
