In the clip, recorded on April 6, the lizard can see claws on one of the refrigerated cabinets in front of bewildered buyers.

But he is unable to open the door and therefore turns his attention to the neighboring shelves.

Shocked customer Narumpa Tangsin said, “I only stopped at the store to buy food, then saw the huge monitor lizard inside. I wanted to buy a drink but the animal was too close to the drinks aisle.

“They are dangerous animals, especially when they are angry, so I stayed behind and recorded it on my phone. I guess the stores have everything, even for lizards.

The rescue team arrived at the store on the outskirts of the capital Bangkok and dragged the monitor lizard out of the store before propelling it into the nearby undergrowth.
