The Ghanaian started the game at London Stadium as David Moyes’ Hammers led 3-0 in 35 minutes thanks to goals from Jesse Lingard, Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek.
But the Gunners surprisingly recovered from their dismal start to claim a point after Soucek and Craig Dawson both scored their own, before Alexandre Lacazette took the lead in a late tying goal.
Partey was instrumental in the Gunners’ recovery after being selected to start alongside Granit Xhaka in Arsenal’s defensive midfielder.
The 27-year-old, who joined Atletico Madrid last October, has made more ball recoveries than any other player, in addition to playing the most joint duels and making the most tackles for the Gunners.
Although Partey helped his side recover to eventually secure a point in the Premier League clash, he has faced criticism from his supporters.
That’s because his terrible scoring record in an Arsenal shirt continued against West Ham, with Partey failing to score in any of his 20 appearances since joining the Emirates.
In fact, the defensive midfielder hasn’t scored since last July, when he scored in a 2-0 win for Atletico at Getafe.
It was one of three goals Partey scored last season for Diego Simeone’s side, along with his penchant for Arsenal fans’ annoying long-range shooting.
“One day Thomas Partey is going to score a long range golazo for us and it’s going to be magnificent,” a fan said on Twitter.
“My heart sinks every time I see Thomas Partey field a long-range effort,” added another.
Partey also received criticism on Instagram after posting photos following the draw with the Hammers.
“Please stop filming miles away,” one fan commented in response to Partey’s post.
The Arsenal man seemed to object to the comment, however, writing in response: “I will definitely dedicate one to you soon.
