At first glance, these adorably plush rolls look more like a bundled blanket than a dog.

Yet six-month-old Harvey, a soft-skinned Shar Pei, is a prized pet who, owner, Teresa Moll Arguimbau, 22, is the perfect cuddling companion.

From his home in Menorca, Spain, the dog enjoys a weekly routine of being hydrated from head to toe to maintain his unique folds.

Miss Arguimbau, a student who lives with her family, said: I am completely crazy about her wrinkles and her skin. It is very soft and the wrinkles are very beautiful.

“In fact, one of the things I love most about Harvey is his wrinkles and giant double chin.

“I try to put a moisturizer between her wrinkles every other day, to avoid irritation.

Native to the Far East, Shar Pei had fewer wrinkles on the skin, but over time breeders sought more and more of them.

Miss Arguimbau said sharing photos of Harvey’s incredible looks also allowed her to share tips and ideas with other owners about his care.

Miss Arguimbau said Harvey 'like most Britons when they visit Menorca' loves sunbathing and going to the beach - but added that her skin can be sensitive to the sun.

She has often said that with Shar Pei puppies, they need medical staples on the skin around their eyes to help them open.

She added, “Dona and Louis were great with the staples, but Harvey not. He had a lot more wrinkles than his brothers and that meant, despite the staples being put in, that he hadn’t finished opening his eyes.

“It infected his eyes and for two months he had no sight, and the vet started putting stitches around his eyes to help him open them wider.

“Every week we went to the vet and they readjusted the stitches and also gave Harvey antibiotics and cream to treat his eyes.

“At first, they weren’t sure if the infection had completely damaged his eyesight and they weren’t sure if he would see again.

“Every other day I take him to the beach, because we live by the sea, and he loves it.

“He really likes sand, but not so much water. He is not a big fan of water, although I hope that this summer he will learn to swim.
