According to Jonathan McDowell, an astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, the second stage of Falcon 9 from Starlink’s March 4 launch failed to deorbitate while entering Earth’s atmosphere.

McDowell said it was the 14th piece of “space junk” with a mass of over a ton that has reintegrated since January.
It is not known if SpaceX founder Elon Musk drew the light show.
Some fun facts about re-entering space debris:
(1) A break like the one over Seattle occurs about 60 km (~ 40 miles), well above where the planes are flying (more like 10 km).
