EXCLUSIVE: As HBO continues to plan for an expansion of its Game of thrones universe, more clues are emerging as to the directions in which the expansion could go.

We hear that HBO is developing a trio of ideas for new projects in the fictional world of George RR Martin. They include 9 voyages alias Sea serpent, Flea Bottom and 10,000 ships. Of the three, the Sea Snake Project appears to be more fully formed, with a creative team on board to develop it, including Bruno Heller, while the other two are said to be ideas that are being explored with no writer attached yet. HBO declined to comment.

They join a potential adaptation of Martin’s Tales of Dunk & Egg novellas, which is also being considered at HBO, and a possible Obtained animated series, which is a possibility for HBO Max.

Development of new Obtained projects ramp up as cameras set to roll on prequel series soon Dragon House.

The 9 Voyages series refers to the great sea voyages made by Corlys Velaryon aboard the ship Sea Snake. Velaryon has traveled to places like Pentos, Dragonstone, and around lower Westeros as well as to Lys, Tyrosh, and Myr. He reached the legendary lands of Yi Ti and Leng, whose wealth doubled that of House Velaryon, and he and the Ice Wolf headed north in search of a passage around the summit of Westeros, to find seas. frosts and icebergs as big as mountains.

The mentalist Creator, Rome co-creator and Gotham Developer Bruno Heller is believed to be involved in this project along with Martin.

There’s also a project located in Flea Bottom, which is King’s Landing’s poorest slum, a labyrinthine maze of narrow streets and dark lanes filled with tanneries, brothels and beers. It is featured in the first four seasons of Game of thrones, including when William’s Arya Stark takes refuge there after fleeing the Red Keep. Flea Bottom characters include Ser Davos Seaworth, played by Liam Cunningham, Gendry, the bastard son of King Robert Baratheon, played by Joe Dempsie, prostitute Armeca, played by Sahara Knite and Karl Tanner, a Night’s Watch brother played by Burn Gorman .

Finally, there is a show around the 10,000 ships, a reference to the journey made by the Warrior Queen Princess Nymeria and the surviving members of the Rhoynars, who traveled from Essos to Dorne after their defeat by the Valyrian Freehold in the Second Spice War. This migration took place approximately 1,000 years before the events described in the A Song of Ice and Fire novels. Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, named her werewolf after Nymeria.

News of the new projects emerges after HBO and HBO Max content director Casey Bloys told Deadline last month that they were talking about various areas for development.

“We’re talking about other areas that also make sense. George RR Martin’s world is so big and what’s interesting about it, not only is it big, but it has a lot of road maps in terms of history, ”Bloys told Deadline. “So one of the great things about Dragon house is it an established story that leads you to Game of thrones the show, and there are a lot of small branches. There are a lot of opportunities and stories to tell. ”

“The good news with the prequels is that there is a story that George told,” he added. “We’re working with George, that would really be something we talk about with him, but right now the prequels are there because of the really big story George told in his world.
