During Brady’s time in New England, Brady was the point guard of the Kraft team that made nine Super Bowl appearances, while also winning six championships. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated’s Monday morning quarterback, Kraft opened up about the former Pats quarterback leading a team other than his own to a Super Bowl championship.

“Well, I was really happy for him,” Kraft told the website. “He’s a great guy and he gave us 20 wonderful years, and he made the choice to do what he wanted to do. Look, I wasn’t that happy to see him go, but we gave him this opportunity. And I mean if we’re not going to win, and someone has to, I’m happy for them. He deserves it. ”

In their first season without Brady under center, the Patriots finished 7-9 and missed the playoffs for the first time in 11 years.

PATRIOTS, BUCS AMONG THOSE WHO MADE THE BIGGEST WAVES

Head coach Bill Belichick and his company have spent $ 175 million on guarantees in the first 48 hours of free agency this offseason. They made new additions in tight ends Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith, defensive end Matthew Judon and wide receivers Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne.

The Patriots also brought back quarterback Cam Newton for a one-year contract.

Belichick recently released a statement on the team’s new signings.

“We are delighted with the additions to our roster so far this year,” he said. “Whether it’s through trade, free will or re-signing, the group brings a good mix of offense, defense and special teams. It was great to see them in the building, including some familiar faces, and we are all looking forward to continuing to build into the coming season. ”

Tampa Bay, on the other hand, is set for another Super Bowl run in 2021.

Brady signed an extension, which freed up $ 19 million of salary cap space, which allowed the Buccaneers to sign linebacker Lavonte David, tight end Rob Gronkowski and linebacker Shaq Barrett (four-year-old, 72 million of dollars). The Bucs also placed the franchise tag on wide receiver Chris Godwin.
