Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland Top247 running back Jordan James said he had tipped Georgia for some time before announcing his commitment to the Bulldogs on Monday afternoon.
With James’ promise, Georgia is moving closer to the state of Ohio for the # 1 recruiting class of 247Sports Composite. James, 5-10, 205 pounds, is the 17th nationwide running back and 179th overall prospect.
Entraîneur de running backs Dell McGee led the charge for the Bulldogs in this recruiting. James’s other offerings included Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, State of Florida, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Penn State, among others.
“My relationship with Coach McGee and I know he can develop me to be a great player as he has shown with many other great forwarders who have come to Georgia,” said James.
“I visited them unofficially and fell in love while I was there. They are still a dominant program, their school and the coaches are very involved with the players who play there, life after football looks great for a group of Georgian players and their academics are top level.
James is commit # 11 for Kirby Smart and his team in the 2022 cycle and the third of last week joining his fellow blue shredders in safety Big Starks and outside linebacker Jalon Walker.
“This 2022 class is going to be special for sure,” James said. “Already a lot of great guys have signed up in Georgia in this class and I can’t wait to join them.”
It was an easy decision for James who rushed for 1,752 yards and 26 touchdowns for an average of nearly 10 yards per carry.
“Just the fact that I know they are going to develop me into a great player and a great man and prepare me for more than just football,” James said. “It’s a winning program and can win the national championship at any time.”
James is a guy who ranks higher in the Top247 player rankings at No. 8 in his position and No. 134 overall.
“I bring a guy who can do a lot, catch out of the backfield, speed in the free field, break up tackles.
247Sports Clint Brewster breaks down what the Bulldogs are getting as well.
« James is a compact running back built low to the ground with excellent lower body strength and musculature. Possesses fluid lateral agility and moves in tight spaces with prickly quickness once he hits second level. James is tough to knock down with productive yards after contact and run balance. James has the patience and discipline to stay in the game and get positive yards. Enough speed for long runs, but it’s not a burner. Does all the little things well like picking up blitzes and protecting against passes. James is elusive but won’t try to overdo it. Highly effective with layers of movement and running instincts in the open field. James can become a zone runner with superb downsizing ability or use the power as a straight back in a downhill pattern. James is very skilled third in the passing game as a road runner. Looks comfortable and in control to catch the soccer ball. ”
