How the Snyder Cut sets up Wonder Woman 3

Justice League de Zack Snyder is finally here and while seeing Zack Snyder’s full vision for the film come to life has been thrilling for fans, it’s also a bit bittersweet as there is currently no plan in place for a Justice League after. However, while Snyder’s time with DC may be coming to an end, that doesn’t mean Snyder Cut doesn’t potentially create additional stories for the heroes. Specifically, in the case of Wonder Woman, her future was left open and may have offered a starting point for Wonder Woman 3.

Warning, spoilers for Justice League de Zack Snyder under.

Towards the end of Justice League de Zack Snyder, we find Diana Prince / Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) at the Temple of the Amazons, the same place where earlier in the film Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen) shot Artemis’ arrow, starting a fire that alerted Diana to the looming threat from Darkseid. Now with the battle, Diana stands there and stares out at the sea, almost enviously with the scene strongly implying that Diana is thinking about Themyscira and maybe even weighing if she has to go home.

The idea of Diana’s return to Themyscira is one that could be explored in Wonder Woman 3. Given that Justice League takes place in the present (in relation to the events of Wonder Woman 1984), the next threequel might see Diana go home. Justice League certainly also lays additional groundwork for such a return. Hippolyta whispers “come back to me, Diana” before shooting Artemis’ arrow, then, fighting Steppenwolf, he laughs at her for why she wasn’t there for her Amazon sisters. With the battle won, Diana might think about the devastation of her home and her people, so it would make sense for Diana to return.

However, even though Justice League de Zack Snyder leaves Diana in a sturdy place to head to Wonder Woman 3, that doesn’t necessarily mean the third movie will go in that direction. Wonder Woman 3 was confirmed as a trial a few days later Wonder Woman 1984on December 25, 2020 and will take place in the present. As for the story, Wonder Woman Director Patty Jenkins didn’t reveal much, telling CinemaBlend that she and Geoff Johns had already made up a whole story for the film, but it might take a little while before it comes to life.

“I actually made up a story, and Geoff Johns and I beat up a whole story to Wonder Woman 3 that we were super dup of the fire, ”Jenkins said. But I’ve never felt this before as much as I do now. I don’t think I’ll do it next, so I kind of have to wait and see where we are in the world. It’s interesting. What I wanted to talk about in this movie was very prescient about what I was feeling and what you were feeling was going to happen. So now? I am not sure. So much has changed in the world. I still love the story we made up. I’m sure some parts would come to it. But I’m trying to say, “Don’t decide. Don’t fall in love with anything. See “What Would Wonder Woman Do Now?” What do you want to do with Wonder Woman in this world? ”

Justice League de Zack Snyder is now available to stream exclusively on HBO Max.
