France news: The threat of Emmanuel Macron's Covid-19 vaccine attacked | UK | News

EU leaders on Thursday decided not to completely ban the export of vaccines to Britain. However, they agreed in principle to introduce stricter controls on vaccine exports.

Mr Macron took a firm stance, commenting: “I support the fact that we must block all exports as long as certain pharmaceutical companies do not honor their commitments to the Europeans.”
However, he was fiercely criticized by readers of who argued that he was jealous of Britain’s success.

One of them said: “It has nothing to do with AstraZeneca and its efficiency.

“It’s about preventing the UK from coming out of this pandemic before the EU; they are afraid and become desperate!

Another added: “What a disgusting human being Macron really is.
“He should be ashamed of threatening the lives of people like him.”

A third asked: “Where are all the leftovers that love the EU so much?”

The UK’s coronavirus vaccination program is currently well ahead of EU member states.

Brussels is locked in a furious row with AstraZeneca, the Anglo-Swedish company that makes the vaccines designed by the University of Oxford.

The manufacturer is expected to give the EU less than a third of its requested order by the end of March due to production issues at a European factory.

In response, EU leaders demand that AstraZeneca ship Britain-made vaccines to the bloc, but the company is currently refusing.

Other readers have warned Britain could fight back if the EU blocks vaccine shipments.

One said: “Puppet Macron must be given a hard lesson.

“You are blocking our vaccine supply and we will ban all imports from France.

“All Macron has ever been is a pocket dog for Merkel. “

A second posted: “The EU is cheeky and laughing at us now that we are gone, revealing their true identities.

“Stay, see how they tricked you with their false charm?”

“Well now the mask is down, we see them for who they really are, right?”

Earlier this month, Italy used powers granted by the EU to block shipments of 250,000 AstraZeneca vaccines to Australia.

Australia protested in response and asked the European Commission to intervene directly.
