France lacked will against Ukraine, says Rabiot | Football News

PARIS: France lacked intensity and commitment in their 1-1 home draw against Ukraine in their opening World Cup Qualification, Midfielder Adrien rabiot said Thursday.
The Blues did not threaten Wednesday against a very compact Ukrainian team and Antoine GriezmannThe brilliant first match was called off after the break by the unfortunate goal against his own side Presnel Kimpembe.
With over half an hour to go after the equalizer, Didier DeschampsThe team could not shake up a strong defense and they ended up tied on one point with Ukraine, Finland and Bosnia in Group D.
“We knew what to expect against Ukraine. They were there for the counterattacks. All the teams in our group are going to play like this, ”Rabiot said at a press conference.
“We have to adapt. ”
France were unable to do so on Wednesday, with Deschamps justifying his squad’s shortcomings by claiming that several players had been involved in domestic league action three days earlier.
Yet Rabiot thinks there was more to it.
“If it didn’t work, it’s because we didn’t give our all on the pitch,” he explained.
“We should have put more intensity. With the players that we have, we have to be able to play in any system. It is a question of method and of will. ”
France will have two immediate chances to make up for their poor performance as they face Kazakhstan and Bosnia on Sunday and Wednesday, respectively.
“There is no reason to be upset or panic,” Rabiot said.
“We would have liked to do better but Ukraine played well. Now it’s up to us to bounce back and do the right thing. ”
