Emmerdale ceased production today (March 25) as a sign of respect for a crew member who sadly passed away.

ITV soap confirmed that filming had “stopped for today” following the sad news.

It was also clarified that the crew member’s family requested confidentiality and therefore his name was not disclosed to the public.

“We can confirm that a member of the Emmerdale crew is very sadly deceased,” a spokesperson for the ITV soap opera told Digital Spy.

“Our most sincere and sincere condolences go out to the family, friends and loved ones of our colleague. “

“As a sign of respect, we stopped filming for today.

“We would like to respect the family’s wishes for confidentiality at this very sad time and we would ask the media to be respectful of this. “

The ITV soap opera currently produces six episodes per week, as filming continued throughout the Covid-19 pandemic after the first nationwide lockdown.

However, production was forced to shut down again earlier this year, after members of the team tested positive for the coronavirus.

“We halted filming on Emmerdale last week due to some crew members testing positive for Covid 19,” a spokesperson said at the time.

“We have carried out appropriate follow-up and traceability measures on these cases and undertaken an intensive cleaning of the production building, while reinforcing the health and safety protocols that we have in place.
