Chandigarh: France to share advice to save heritage objects | Chandigarh News

CHANDIGARH: The Ministry of Culture of the French government and experts from the Le Corbusier Foundation, Paris, will assist the administration of the UT in the conservation and restoration of heritage objects by providing a methodology to trace the replicas and the original elements in a list of suggestions to be transmitted for implementation.
The development follows an online meeting between experts and UT officials a few days ago. UT shared its concerns, such as the regular auction of heirloom items in foreign countries, but the main concern was to distinguish fake items from the originals.
“The French government takes care of heritage objects and has the methodology to identify original objects and their replicas. We want to know the exact process and any other related expertise in that regard. This is the crucial element for us, which involves legal and other aspects. All of these issues have been discussed, ”sources said. “In France, there is a committee for the purchase of works of art which legally ensures the protection of heritage assets. We hope to get significant help from it, ”added sources.
Previously, the French team was due to travel to Chandigarh last year to discuss the protection of heritage items, but the Covid-19 pandemic derailed the visit. Now, just a few days ago, an online meeting took place.
