Messier’s memoir “No One Wins Alone” will be published in October by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Messier, 60, will write about being the son of hockey player and coach, Doug Messier; a Wayne Gretzky teammate on the Edmonton Oilers and the New York Rangers captain, among other highlights.
The book will be published in Messier’s native Canada by Simon & Schuster Canada.
“I thought I was in the hockey business for 25 years, but I finally realized I was in the people business,” Messier said in a statement Tuesday. do whatever was necessary to help them reach their potential. In his 25 years in the NHL, Messier played on six Stanley Cup championship teams. He is among the all-time leaders in regular season points, regular season games played and playoff points. In 2007, the NHL launched the Mark Messier Leadership Award for leading by example on and off the ice.
