The former Strictly Come Dancing star’s partner was rushed to hospital in January after being engulfed in flames when an Instagram stunt went wrong.
She suffered third degree burns and had to undergo three skin grafts as doctors battled to treat her injuries.
Abbie was hospitalized for several weeks as she recovered, and she was understandably absent from her usually busy social media pages.
The dancer’s Instagram page is filled with snaps of her with AJ, so fans were concerned if the couple had called to quit for weeks of silence.
However, despite growing concerns from fans, a source told The Sun that AJ was there to help Abbie every step of the way in her recovery process from the ordeal.
“He was there 24/7 changing Abbie’s bandages and taking care of her. It’s delicate work but he just wants to make sure she’s okay, ”a source told the publication.
The insider added, “She suffered in secret and was completely traumatized by this horrific accident. She avoided social media because she didn’t want people to know about her injuries. ”
“She’s having a hard time coming to terms with all of this, but she’s grateful for AJ’s support,” the insider added.
The source added that AJ and her Love Island star brother Curtis brought Abbie to her hospital appointments and helped her with daily care.
Earlier today, AJ broke his silence about what happened, thanking fans for their support and kind words after the news broke.
Speaking on his AJ v Curtis podcast with his brother Curtis, the star told his followers he was grateful for all of their encouragement.
He said: “It appeared that there had been an accident with Abbie. And I just want to say that it’s enough to be brief, to be honest. ”
“For anyone who hasn’t seen the story yesterday where Abbie had an accident,” he added.
AJ continued, “That’s why I just say thank you for all the lovely posts and everything if you haven’t seen it in the papers, thank you so much for all the love and support and the kind posts.
“I know we haven’t answered everyone. But yes, thank you for that. And we’ll talk about that later when we both feel comfortable.
“So yeah, just thank you for this love. It means a lot to your support, it keeps us all going.
