The presenter appeared to give an awkward nod to the show’s recent big news, which occurred during his absence.
Piers Morgan drastically left GMB earlier this month, following backlash over comments about Meghan Markle.
In scenes that have gone viral across the world, Piers clashed with co-star Alex Beresford over his comments following Meghan and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Piers announced his exit from the show just hours after the shock that led him to storm the on-air set, in a move that has divided viewers.
A full-time replacement has yet to be confirmed for the host, while Adil took over as the presenter on Thursday morning after some time away.
At the start of the show, he immediately seemed to be referring to the Piers release and all of the GMB drama before chuckling.
Co-host Susanna laughed before immediately starting the conversation, while Piers’ exit and everything that happened was not specifically mentioned.
It was clear what Adil was referring to though, when he said sarcastically, “Great to be back. Am I missing something? ”
Susanna stared awkwardly at the camera and said, “Uh, a few little things …”
Adil then joked, “Oh okay,” before grimacing and laughing at the comment as Susanna continued with the breaking news.
The moment did not go unnoticed by some viewers tuning in to the early morning episode, with the comments soon making their way to Twitter.
One fan said: “I can’t decide what was funnier… Adil asking if he missed anything… or Susanna’s awkward response. ”
A second said: “Adil speaks before he thinks …”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6 a.m. on ITV.
