World champion Tetris Jonas Neubauer dies at 39

Seven-time world classic Tetris champion Jonas Neubauer has died at the age of 39 from a “sudden medical emergency”. Neubauer Twitter account, with the following message: “It is with a heavy heart that we deliver the terrible news that Jonah has passed away from a sudden medical emergency. He was the absolute best. We are devastated, overwhelmed with grief, and we already miss him dearly. Information to follow when it becomes available. ”

The official Tetris Twitter shared the news of Neubauer’s passing, saying: “It’s a huge loss in many ways. Jonas Neubauer was one of the greatest classic Tetris players of all time in terms of skill, wit, and kindness. Our hearts go out to his family and friends. , and to the entire classic Tetris community, as we all mourn his passing. ”

the Classic Tetris World Championship Twitter also shared a heartfelt message to Neubauer, saying, “We are sorry to share that seven-time CTWC champion Jonas Neubauer passed away suddenly on January 4th. We could never have asked for a better champion, role model and friend. Jonas, we miss you, we love you and we thank you for inspiring us to always be our best. Rest in peace. ” A GoFundMe was created for Neubauer and reveals more of his life, including a fun story about how a printing error described him as a 60-year-old man from Albacete, Spain.

“Jonas played the game, tweeting his love for his new homeland,” GoFundMe read. “Soon the inhabitants of the Spanish city started to follow him, encouraging their new citizen. Afterwards beloved throughout town, the mayor invited him and Heather to visit him, offering Jonah the knife to the town (their incredible version of our “key to the town”). ”

Neubauer is survived by his wife Heather Ito, his mother Sharry Neubauer, his brothers Jason and Justin and his six nephews.
