Why Secret Invasion is a Disney + series instead of an MCU movie


One of the biggest surprises announced at Disney’s 2020 Investor Day event was the Secret invasion series currently in preparation for Disney +. Perhaps a bigger surprise, however, was Marvel Studio’s choice to bring their event to a series, rather than the big screen.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently spoke about why the script was designed as a series. “We are interested in the aspect of political paranoia Secret invasion and really showcasing the stars with Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn, two amazing actors that you want to have in any show, and we’re very lucky to have them, ”Feige told Collider.

“That’s kind of the main focus of that and of course it will tie into other things and the Skrulls in a way you’ve never seen before, but yeah, anything can be anything.” what, ”Feige continued. “Wise words – but we wanted to do this in series because it would allow us to do something different from what we’ve done before. ”

Jackson has appeared in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films as SHIELD director Nick Fury. Mendelsohn portrayed shapeshifter alien Skrull Talos in 2019 Captain Marvel. Talos was an ally of Fury and Carol Danvers, played by Brie Larson, in Captain Marvel, and it was later revealed to have impersonated Fury in 2019 Spider-Man: Far From Home while Fury enjoyed a time off aboard Talos’ spaceship.

The Marvel Original Secret invasion The event was a 2008 eight-issue series by Brian Michael Bendis, Leinil Francis Yu, Mark Morales and Laura Martin that also spanned several other Marvel titles. The events leading up to the plot had actually started to unfold in other Marvel comics several months earlier. The comic book series revealed that the Skrulls had secretly infiltrated the Marvel Universe for years, posing as several well-established characters.

The secretive nature of the original series evoked a sense of paranoia and mistrust among Marvel’s heroes, as no one could be sure who was authentic and who was being emulated – the vibe Feige seeks to conjure in the Disney series. +. The longer runtime of the six-episode series compared to the average MCU movie would also allow for further exploration of such potentially large-scale infiltration.

No release date has been announced for Secret invasion on Disney +.
