The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Virginia Tech Hokies meet on Sunday in college basketball action from Cassell Coliseum.
Notre Dame enters this one at 3-6 so far. The Irish have lost back-to-back games to Virginia and North Carolina. As for Virginia Tech, they sit at 8-2 this year. The Hokies enjoyed a four-game winning streak against Louisville in their last game. Check back all season for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Notre Dame has failed to find its place this season. After a 2-2 start, the Irish lost to Duke and Purdue before taking out Bellarmine. Another loss to Virginia came after that, and last weekend the Irish fell again, this time to North Carolina 66-65.

In the loss to the Tar Heels, Notre Dame’s Nate Laszewski led the way with 25 points with nine rebounds. Prentiss Hubb added 14 points with five assists and one rebound, and Juwan Durham had eight points with three assists and two tables in 17 minutes.
On the Virginia Tech side, they opened their season with four straight wins before dropping 20 points to Penn State. After four straight wins over Clemson, Coppin State, Longwood and Miami, the Hokies fell to Louisville 73-71 in their final game on Wednesday.
In the loss to the Cardinals, Jalen Cone of Virginia Tech led the team with 23 points with three rebounds. Nahiem Alleyne added 15 points with three assists and a rebound, and Justyn Mutts posted 10 points and eight tables.
The Hokies are 4-1 ATS in their last five total games and 15-6 ATS in their last 21 games on Sunday. The most is 5-0 in Virginia Tech’s last five games and 4-0 in the last four home games.
Meanwhile, the Irish are 1-4 ATS in their last five total games and under 7-1 in Sunday’s other eight games. Notre Dame is 5-2 in the last seven as a road underdog and 19-7 underdogs in their last 26 as an underdog.
TO CHOOSE: I will stay with Virginia Tech. The Hokies need a bounce game here. They were outclassed by Louisville in their last outing, trailing 47.3 to 42.6 in field goal percentage, 37 to 30 in rebounding and 37.5 to 30.0 in 3 point percentage. Virginia Tech has scored 71 or more points in each of their last four games, and I think the Hokies will come out swinging in this one to recover on the national stage.
