The United States will host Brazil, Canada and Japan at the sixth annual SheBelieves Cup women’s friendly soccer tournament in February, US Soccer reported on Monday.
As fatal coronavirus cases continue to rise across much of the United States, all six matches of the tournament from February 18 to 24 will be played in one location, Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Fla., Home of the Major. League Soccer Orlando City SC and the Orlando Pride of the National Women’s Soccer League.
The matches will be played in three doubles, kicking off on Thursday, February 18 with Brazil facing Japan and the United States against Canada.
On February 21, the United States will face Brazil and Japan against Canada, and on February 24, Canada will face Brazil and the United States will face Japan.
The world champion of the United States – with goals from Megan Rapinoe, Christen Press and Lindsey Horan – beat Japan 3-1 in the final game of the 2020 round robin last March to lift the trophy.
The four teams competing this year are ranked in the FIFA top 10 and all are expected to compete in the Tokyo Olympics, which are expected to take place this year after their postponement from 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
