The single personLast week’s Season 25 opener featured plenty of in-depth and meaningful reviews on breed and cultural expectations – and producers quickly and easily threw them away in Week 2. Mentions that Matt James was the first black bachelor faded this Monday night in order to establish the commercial real estate broker’s best love suitors and solidify Victoria as this season’s villain. And can we speak about Victoria for a minute?

Matt, 28, surely sees through the masquerade of this self-proclaimed “queen”. Of course, Matt didn’t witness Victoria’s loud pout when he picked Bri, 24, for her first one-on-one date (more on that later), or how Victoria s ‘is banged in the head with Jessenia, 27, after loudly and obnoxiously. his jealousy of Bri. But he made see how Victoria, 27, made her way into a wedding photo with him on the group date. And that kiss she planted on him was bordering on aggression. Victoria also became visibly upset when Matt later gave the group rose to Lauren, the 29-year-old corporate lawyer from Miami who shares Matt’s love for the Lord.

How could Matt have missed Victoria’s stares and stares? But he must have, because when she approached him at the cocktail party the next night, he believed her hyperbolic claims that Marylynn was a “toxic manipulator” who was pestering her. Of course, these admissions came conveniently after Matt gave 28-year-old Marylynn his favorite orchids as a gesture of love, but Matt didn’t seem to notice the timing either.

For a guy astute enough to memorize a woman’s favorite flower and notice that 24-year-old Sarah had a family issue that weighed heavily on him on her other one-on-one date, he’s certainly missing a lot. Which East that, the producers? Is Matt sensitive and intuitive… or selectively? Victoria is definitely a plant, but it would be nice if her “role” on the show wasn’t so boring. By the time Victoria ruined the cocktail vibe, the whole vibe of the episode was tarnished and Sarah passed out from the stress, interrupting Matt’s ability to fire Victoria or Marylynn or both.

Matt’s best moment
That said, Matt had some fun high notes to watch. This includes sliding into not one but of them spas with two very different but very promising competitors. The first romantic bath came on her first date with Bri. The two got dirty and seductive on an ATV, then finished the muddy outing by jumping into a wood-fired hot tub. Of course, because it needed firewood, Matt took off his shirt (pâmoison) so that he can cut a log in half. Hmm. Is this whole spa powered by two small slabs of firewood? OKAY. Anything for another of Matt’s shirtless moments, we guess. Oh, and a lot of hot tub hugs have taken place.

The two ended the date with an intimate dinner where Bri spoke about the difficulty of growing up without his father taking an active role in his life, which Matt says he knows all too well. They kissed at dinner and kissed again during a fireworks show for two. Well, the other women could see the fireworks too, but they couldn’t get along with Matt while watching, like Bri did.

The second memorable exchange took place during Matt’s date with Sarah. First, the two enjoyed a breathtaking aerial view of the Pennsylvanian Forest from the front seat of a biplane, then they enjoyed a romantic picnic. As he spoke, Matt felt like there was something Sarah wasn’t telling him about his father. So Sarah decided, without provocation, to talk to Matt about her father’s heart-wrenching battle with ALS over dinner. A relieved Matt thanked Sarah for her honesty and vulnerability and the two hugged and ended the night in an old-fashioned hot tub with no firewood.

Matt’s worst moments
Matt falling into Victoria’s web of lies was definitely a low point for the North Carolina native. But his kiss with Lauren with her eyes open was scary. Close your eyes, Matt. Make us believe that you like this woman.

The moment of this week’s train wreck
Whatever game it is on the group’s date, it takes the cake for the most hackneyed yet in the series. Was it supposed to be football with wet paint fights and cake throws? While in wedding dress… ?? Sigh. It was a lot.

Bachelorette Stock Chute
It’s difficult. It’s tempting to keep throwing at Victoria because she’s terrible. That said, it seems Matt has almost forgotten about Khaylah, 28, his daughter at home in North Carolina. The health advocate shared a romantic break in the bed of a van in week 1, but didn’t spend any alone time with Matt in week 2.

What did you think of week 2 and Matt’s progress of connections?
