#Active cases continued to decline as the #Thunder #Bay #District #Health #Unit reported seven new cases on #Saturday
THUNDER BAY – The number of active COVID-19 cases in #Thunder #Bay has continued to decline, despite the news of seven new confirmed cases on #Saturday.
The number of active cases in the district rose to 58 on #Saturday, the #Thunder #Bay #District #Health #Unit said. #This marked a decrease of 10 from #December 31 (figures were not reported on #January 1) and is now less than half the level of active cases reported for much of #December.
#Of the seven new cases reported on #Saturday, four were believed to be the result of close contact with a previously identified case, while three others had no known exposure.
#One of the reported cases was on #January 1, when the health unit did not report data on COVID-19.
There was one person hospitalized for COVID-19 on #Saturday, with no patients admitted to intensive care with the virus.
The announcement of the local case came as #Ontario set a new record in a single day with 3,363 cases announced on #Saturday. #That broke a record set days earlier on #Thursday when 3,328 cases were reported.
