Cherry follows the wild journey of a disenfranchised young man from Ohio who meets the love of his life, only to risk losing it due to a series of bad decisions and difficult life circumstances. Inspired by the bestselling novel of the same name by Nico Walker, Cherry stars Tom Holland in the title role as a deranged character who goes from dropping out of college to serving in Iraq as an army medic and is anchored only by his one true love, Emily (Ciara Bravo ). When Cherry comes home a war hero, he fights the demons of undiagnosed PTSD and flies into drug addiction, surrounding himself with a menagerie of depraved misfits. Depleting her finances, Cherry turns to bank robbery to fund her addiction, breaking up her relationship with Emily along the way. Presented on screen in a bold and grainy way by visionary directors Anthony and Joe Russo, Cherry is a dark, humorous coming-of-age story of a man in a universal quest for purpose and human connection.
