Rachel Uchitel, one of the many women Tiger Woods had an affair with while married to ex-wife Elin Nordegren, said her life had been “hell” for years since the scandal first broke .
She explained to Extra why she finally broke her silence 10 years later.
“I’ve been silent for over a decade now, and felt it was really important for me to speak once in my life, because I’ve spent all those years letting people think what they want to think and say what they want. say, ”Uchitel explained. “I needed to take off the chains and be able to tell my story for myself. I spent years ashamed of what was going on. ”
The 45-year-old said she was “ashamed” to have had an affair with a married man, but “it’s up to me to take care of it” and doesn’t think it was fair to be defamed by the media and the public.

“A moment doesn’t define your life… And I don’t like being branded like a mistress. I don’t like to be branded as a wrecker – that’s not who I am. I am 45 years old. women. I took a wrong turn 10 years ago… I didn’t throw anyone down the stairs. I didn’t kill anyone. I made a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes, ”reasoned Uchitel.
In fact, the scandal followed her despite the passage of time. “All of this has made my life hell for the past 10 years,” said the former hostess of the nightclub.
Uchitel also opened up about why she appeared on HBO’s upcoming documentary “Tiger” about the golf star’s tumultuous life.

“I wanted people to see what really happened. I wasn’t a mistress, and I was in a real relationship, and I want people to leave me alone about it. I made a bad decision. And I regret it, and I’m embarrassed about it and… my apologies are to two people, not to the world, to two people, ”she said.
The documentary would show Uchitel remembering his first closed eyes with Woods, also 45, at a nightclub in New York City. This is where Woods allegedly asked for his number and texted him a few minutes later.
Woods’ divorce from Nordegren became official on August 23, 2010. The former couple share two children: daughter Sam Alexis, 13, and son Charlie Axel, 11.
The athlete then entered a treatment center for sexual rehabilitation.

Woods’ ex-wife then moved in with Jordan Cameron. Nordegren, 41, and Cameron reportedly welcomed a child together, a baby boy named Arthur, in 2019.
Part 1 of “Tiger” will air on HBO on January 10, and part 2 will air on January 17.
