Even a pandemic can’t stop one of the cutest days on TV.

The Puppy Bowl will be back on screens this year, Discovery announced this week.

The 17th annual three-hour event – which encourages people to adopt the adorable furry attendees – will air on Animal Planet and stream on the network’s new platform, Discovery +, starting at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 7. .

During the Puppy Bowl, 70 puppies from Team Ruff and Team Fluff – from 22 shelters and rescues – will compete for the “Lombarkey” trophy.

The event will show “how each dog’s mix of breeds could give them an edge in the field,” the announcement says.

It will also feature “adoptable puppy cheerleaders” for the first time.

The 17th Puppy Bowl will air on Animal Planet and air on Discovery + the Super Bowl on Sunday before the big game.

“Fan favorite elements including slow-motion reruns, face-to-face action from the famous Water Bowl camera, and aerial shots of the field from the all-new TEMPTATIONS Sky Box are all back this year,” as well as epic drone blasts from puppy players across the arena that bring audiences as close as possible to all the action in the game, ”the announcement reads.

The event will show 70 puppies from Team Ruff and Team Fluff competing for the “Lombarkey” trophy.

Over the past 16 years, all of the puppies and kittens featured at the Puppy Bowl show have found new homes, giving the event a 100% adoption rate.
