#Warning: #This post contains spoilers from #Power #Book II: #Ghostof #Season finale 1. #Proceed with caution.

#It’s a little after the holidays, but the appearance of #Tommy #Power #Book II: #GhostThe #Season 1 #Season 1 finale could certainly fall under the title of “Cancel #Christmas”.

#After all, #Ghost’s best friend-turned-greatest enemy returns to #New #York for the express purpose of killing #Tasha, who named him #Ghost #Killer during his murder trial earlier in the season. (#And didn’t we tell you that #Joseph #Sikora would probably be back?)

#But when #Tommy fails on his first attempt, #Tariq turns things around and comes up with a plan he says will help them all. #So he designs a car chase in which #Tommy appears to follow a recently released #Tasha, the feds are #Actually after #Tommy, and it all ends in an explosion that makes #Uncle #Tommy look like he’s dead and gone. (#He even throws a few molars into the wreckage to make sure there is DNA evidence of his disappearance.)

#Although #Tommy tells #Tariq he is leaving #New #York #City, he secretly plans to take #Tasha another hit before she, #Yaz, and #Tariq run away. #But #Tariq, knowing better than to trust her seriously angry uncle, calls for a threat to #Tasha’s life that prompts the federal government to rush her into witness protection sooner than expected. #So #Tommy is upset… then thwarted again when #Monet (!) #Prevents him from killing #Tariq at #Ghost’s grave by putting his gun to his head and telling him to move.

“# #Let’s go,” #Monet said to #Tariq after #Tommy’s departure. “#The family is waiting.”

#And this is just one of the many huge developments happening over the hour. #You might be wondering how #Tasha is now a free woman? #That’s because when #Tariq took the stand in his mother’s trial, he said #Saxe was illegally stalking him and hinted that he was going to blow up the unethical alliance of #Saxe and #MacLean. #As #Ott pulls the strings, #Tasha appoints #Tommy as the head of the drug operation in exchange for witness protection for her and #Yasmine… but not #Tariq. (#Hence his plan to run with him.)

#Another great moment: #Tariq kills #Jabari, who understood that “Riq was selling drugs and was connected to #Dru. #Cane overhears the conversation and shoots #Jabari, who thinks #Tariq is a snitch. #Cane is also about to shoot #Tariq, but young #Saint #Patrick convinces him to fix everything, including the murder of #Officer #Ramirez. #So #Cane gives him #Ramirez’s gun and #Tariq kills #Jabari, who was planning to write a book about #Tariq’s illicit activities. (The money #Jabari planned to give ‘#Riq, by the way, conveniently repays #Tariq’s debt to #Monet.)

TVLine turned to series creator / executive producer #Courtney #Kemp and executive producer #Curtis “50 #Cent” #Jackson to complete the finale. #In separate interviews, they broke down #Tariq’s big moves and #Tommy’s explosive comeback. #Read on to find out about “#Heart of #Darkness.”

TVLINE | #Tasha enters witness protection at the end of the episode. #What can you tell me about #Naturi #Naughton’s onscreen presence in season 2?
KEMP | #What I’m just going to preview a bit is #Tariq did this thing, he made the decision to save her life, but he won’t have any control over where she is or what she is doing. #So when we get to the start of #Season 2, there’s definitely a feeling from #Tariq of, “I would like to know where my mom is,” and I think I’ll leave it there.

Power Book II Ghost Finale Season 1 Episode 10 RecapTVLINE | #Everyone thinks #Tommy is dead. #It’s a pretty blank slate for someone like him. #Go in #Power #Book IV: #Strength, what can you tell us about his future projects?
KEMP | #Well there were a few things we wanted to do. I wanted to free the character so he could do whatever he wanted, and I wanted him to be able to move around the country. #Remember that old #Southwestern ad, “#Are you now free to roam the country?” I wanted him to do that. #So that’s part of it. #But part of that was also solving the issue of #Tasha needing to testify against him. #It was something I wanted to be really clean for the audience: it won’t come back. The fact that she has to testify against #Tommy isn’t coming back, and that was part of #Tariq’s plan, to clean up all of these things.

TVLINE | #Monet essentially chooses #Tariq over #Cane in this episode. #It seems that it hurts a lot.
JACKSON | [##On #Power], I said, “##If I play a character, I want to play the worst person they’ve seen on TV.” #And it’s being paired now, with #Cane. #It’s a little different in his character, because by default he does the wrong thing with the innocence that goes with it. #My character did these things mischievously because I was trying to take it all back. #It was all mine, so to speak. [#Laughs] I think it was a mistake to name #Cane so close to #Kanan. [#Laughs]

TVLINE | #Let’s talk about #Carrie for a minute. #Forgive me, because I can’t remember when the season started: did we know she was a former prosecutor, or is that something we just learned in these last few episodes?
KEMP | #It’s there very early, but there aren’t many.

TVLINE | #How sure do you think she is doing the right thing in protecting #Zeke and dealing with interference in this murder investigation?
KEMP | #She flies totally by the seat of her pants, and cover-up is always worse than crime. #So what does this mean? #You shouldn’t have slept with a student, man! [#Laughs] #It was a very bad call …

#It’s very important to see #Carrie, always, as someone who is a high performing addict. #So she makes a lot of terrible decisions. I love characters like that. #What’s so funny is that the audience was like, we hate these characters, we hate these teachers, and now they’re starting to see what the purpose of these characters was from the start, which was always intended. I think there are a lot of people like #Jabari who want to step in and help a young child but end up wanting to help themselves. #Or a lot of people like #Carrie, who from the start you met this bleeding heart person who was trying to help all these kids, but then she helped herself, basically, a d – k. #Girl! #What are you doing? #Do you understand what I am saying? [#Laughs] #It’s really important. #Right? #By the way, you can print it. #It is very good.

TVLINE | #It will be printed “d – k”, but there it goes.
KEMP | [#Laughs] #No, actually, wait. #We can rewrite it. #How about “#She helped herself to #Zeke.” ”

TVLINE | #No! “##She helped herself do a d – k” is a much better quote, and you know it.
KEMP | [#Laughs] I know. I know. I know. I am here to help you. [#Laughs] I am really.

#Now it’s your turn. #Note both the #Power #Book II: #Ghost finale and the season as a whole via the polls below, then hit the comments with your thoughts!
