VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – An Ontario woman has created an online calculator to give Canadians an idea of when they will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Jasmine Mah, who has a Masters of Science, familiarized herself with federal government guidelines, but was unsure when she could expect to receive the vaccine
So she used the criteria and co-created the vaccine queue calculator that launched on Thursday.
“The calculator is based on national guidelines provided by the Government of Canada. So you are going to indicate your age, then there are a bunch of little questions: are you a health worker? Do you live in a group, such as a long-term care home? These will help you determine at which stage you will be categorized, ”she explains.
While the calculator can’t predict the exact date a given Canadian will get shot in the arm, Mah says it offers a “general guide.”
She notes that each province will navigate each step of vaccination slightly differently and that the calculator assumes that all doses announced by Canada will be delivered on time.
“It’s still vague, but over time we hope it can be more precise and precise. For now, we have what we have, and that’s always good to know.
