Officials say man seen in photo at Nancy Pelosi’s office has been arrested


The man pictured sitting at the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during Wednesday’s riots on the U.S. Capitol was arrested and charged with three federal counts, including the theft of public property, reported Friday federal officials.

Federal officials said Richard Barnett of Arkansas was taken into custody Friday morning in Little Rock.

Barnett has been charged with knowingly entering and staying in restricted buildings without permission, violent entry and disorderly conduct on the Capitol grounds as well as theft of public property, officials said.

An Alabama resident has also been charged with the homemade bomb found on the south side of the Capitol building. Eleven Molotov cocktails and a military-type weapon were found in his van, officials said.

“Just because you’ve left the DC area, you can still expect a knock on the door if we find out you were part of the criminal activity on Capitol Hill,” said Steven D’Antuono, deputy director in charge. from the FBI field in Washington. Office.

It was not immediately clear if Barnett had a lawyer.

Barnett is being held by the FBI in Benton County, Arkansas, Lt. Shannon Jenkins, sheriff’s office information officer, confirmed to CNN.
