Mega Millions jackpot hits $ 750 million after Tuesday sees no winner

The Mega Millions jackpot soared to its second biggest grand prize in history on Tuesday night after no tickets matched the six numbers drawn.

US lottery players now have the chance to win a prize of $ 750 million. The winner can also opt for a lump sum of cash estimated at around $ 550.6 million.

THE MEGA MILLION JACKPOT TO MORE THAN HALF OF A BILLION DOLLARS

The pot before Tuesday night’s draw had climbed to more than half a billion dollars – roughly $ 615 million – which was already the biggest prize in almost two years.

The numbers drawn were 12, 14, 26, 28 and 33, and the Gold Mega Ball 9.

Although no one has claimed the jackpot yet, Tuesday night’s draw produced a total of 3,701,286 winning tickets “at all prize levels,” according to lottery officials.

Officials say Friday’s jackpot will likely become the third largest lotto prize in US history after two previous winning Powerball jackpots totaled $ 768.4 million and $ 758.7 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot record is $ 1.537 billion in 2018. It was the world’s largest lotto prize awarded on a single ticket, lottery officials said on Wednesday.

The jackpot has rolled since its last win on September 15th.

The next draw is scheduled for January 15 at 11 p.m. ET.
