MEN understand that the 23-year-old is set to join Leverkusen, currently third in the Bundesliga, for around £ 1.5million after rejecting United’s offer of a new contract over early this season.
Fosu-Mensah is out of contract at the end of the season but turned down the option of a new deal at Old Trafford because he felt “undervalued” by the terms offered.
A source close to the player told the MEN that while Fosu-Mensah was sad to leave United, he was “delighted to make a fresh start and to show people what he is really capable of”.
