This comes from Sport 1 in Germany. They claim Bayern have opened talks with RB Leipzig over Dayot Upamecano.
The player has a £ 39million release clause and the Bavarians are happy to keep it. He’s a player they feel desperate for, in fact, as they only have two senior defenders left.
Bayern could also enter the race for Mohamed Simakan, according to this report. The 20-year-old defender is at RC Strasbourg, with Leipzig and AC Milan interested.
What RTK has to say
Two senior middle halves – can you imagine? Sounds like happiness. They should try to operate with a defensive midfielder and a teenager who played outside the league last season.

Although they almost certainly tried this experiment under Pep Guardiola.
Passive aggression aside, it’s clear Liverpool won’t be the only ones to consider some very promising defensive targets in 2021.
The Reds have ties to both players, of course. Complaints from Julien Maynard of Telefoot they look at Simaka, a bit like Bayern.
And there have been many links to Upamecano. The Daily Mail has one of the latest, claiming the Reds are one of seven elite clubs to watch the player.
The latter is hardly surprising. We believe the Leipzig man is the best defender in the market, if that release clause figure is correct. No one else can offer their experience, potential and success.
But if Bayern are in talks with Leipzig, it suggests they are looking to do so early. It makes sense to do this, in our opinion.
Do it now on top of the release clause and you can beat everyone at the signing. Otherwise, you are forced to compete with half a dozen others coming in the summer.
Then all it takes is a ridiculous contract offer and you’re missing out on something. Trade with Leipzig and you might pay extra, but at least you’ll get the player.
Bayern shoot with the starter’s pistol before everyone is ready in the Upamecano race – and that will leave Liverpool too far behind.
