Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James spoke out a day after a crowd of pro-President Donald Trump supporters raped the Capitol in Washington, DC

James shared two photos of his arrival at Staples Center for Thursday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. The quadruple MVP wore a shirt that read, “DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW? “

He also used the phrase in his caption:

” DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW ??? !! I know the answer to that. You still don’t chat no matter what, you still won’t be judged, looked crazy, chained, beaten, hanged, shot because of the color of your skin !!!! 2 AMERIKKKAS we live in and it was FULL CAPACITY LIVE IN DIRECT yesterday in our Nations CAPITAL TO CAPITAL !! ”

The pro-Trump crowd gathered outside the Capitol on Wednesday afternoon and finally forced his way through the barricades and into the building. Members of the crowd entered legislative chambers and the offices of individual legislators.

After his team’s 107-105 victory over the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown compared the way authorities treated the crowd at the scene with how police often treat people of color:

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green made the same point and called members of the mob “King’s terrorists” (disclaimer: video contains profanity):

A day before the Capitol breach, James expressed frustration after Kenosha County District Attorney Michael Graveley decided not to charge Constable Rusten Sheskey in the August shoot of Jacob Blake.

« T“Hearing what happened in Kenosha today was a blow to the gut and the heart”, James told reporters.

Four people died during the Capitol invasion on Wednesday. A woman was shot dead on the grounds of the Capitol.

Before the breach, Trump told his supporters he was planning to join them and ” walk to the Capitol. “Trump also called Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 general election”blatant assault on our democracy, “alluding to unsubstantiated allegations of fraud in the vote counting process.”
