#Former #Pico #Rivera mayor #Ron #Beilke filed a lawsuit #Tuesday in #Norwalk #Superior #Court against #Jairo #Castillo, alleging libel, business disparagement and interference with potential economic benefit and contractual relationships. #Beilke is seeking at least $ 1 million in compensatory damages, plus unspecified punitive damages.
#Castillo is a former #La #Mirada site employee who resigned in #September, the lawsuit says. #He could not be immediately reached for comment.
#La #Mirada #El #Tepeyac restaurant opened on the #Imperial #Highway in 2019. #Like the original #Evergreen #Avenue location which has been operating in #Boyle #Heights since 1955, the #La #Mirada #El #Tepeyac menu features great burritos , including the #Hollenbeck and the 5-pound #Manuel’s #Special. ”
The restaurant has an ongoing challenge for customers to eat a “# #Special #Manual” in one visit.
“# #Over the years many have tried, but few have been successful,” according to the cafe’s website.
#According to the lawsuit, #Castillo in #September launched a “calculated plan to destroy” the location of #La #Mirada with messages such as “#This place sucks, don’t even go there”, “The food is disgusting and cold” and “Don’t waste your time or your money,” depending on the costume.
#Castillo also wrote: “This place is awful. The food is terrible. The management is crazy, ”says the costume.
#Castillo added, “This place is a shame to pretend it’s part of the original and use their logo when not connected,” according to the complaint.
The lawsuit alleges that #Castillo knew the messages were false and acted with “reckless contempt” for their content.
