It’s time to get the news widely (among other things) with the announcement that the iconic ‘Sex and the City’ comedy series is relaunched as a limited series for the HBO Max streaming service.
Parker posted the first renaissance trailer to social media today with hash phrases like “And Just Like That” and “SATC: The Next Chapter,” so it’s not entirely clear which is the title if one of them has been selected.
Original series stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis are all back and will be producing, although Kim Cattrall is not returning.
The rebirth will follow Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), Charlotte York (Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Nixon) as they navigate love and friendship in their 50s.
Ten half-hour episodes are slated to begin production in New York City in late spring with the return of Michael Patrick King as executive producer. The original series premiered on HBO in 1998 and ran for six seasons until 2004 before two films in 2008 and 2010.
This is one of the many planned covers of HBO Max in the works, “True Blood” and “Gossip Girl” will also receive them shortly.
