#But there were some things that sounded familiar to #Hall, a forward who signed a one-year, $ 8 million contract with #Buffalo on #Oct. 11, including #Sabers coach #Ralph #Krueger. #When #Hall made his NHL debut at the age of 18 with the #Edmonton #Oilers in 2010, #Krueger was a partner before becoming the #Oilers coach in 2012-13.
“I think I’m probably a step ahead of most of the guys who are on new teams with the familiarity I have with #Ralph, and not just #Ralph, but (assistant) #Steve #Smith, who coaches the [defensemen] and the penalty, and #Myles #Fee, who is our video coordinator, ”#Hall said. I had these guys in #Edmonton, and seeing these guys around the rink is an added bonus when you come on a new team to see familiar faces. ”

#Hall traveled to #Buffalo over #Christmas so he could participate in some informal skates before training camp began and said he believed the #Sabers, who were one of the seven teams that had not competing in the #Stanley #Cup qualifying last season, would benefit from an early start from camp (all 24 qualified teams started training camp on #Monday).

#But with a truncated camp and no preseason games, #Hall knows that fully acclimatizing before the #Sabers host the #Washington #Capitals in their season opener on #Jan. 14 will be a challenge.

#This room is probably in the center of #Buffalo’s front line, #Captain #Jack #Eichel, did not practice #Friday because of an upper body injury did not help. #With #Eichel out, #Hall skated on the left wing on a line with #Victor #Olofsson on the right wing and #Casey #Mittelstadt and #Riley #Sheahan spinning in the center.

“It’s not just #Jack that I’m going to be playing this year,” said #Hall. “There are five guys on the ice and who knows what the line will be in #Game 5 or #Game 10? #So it’s important to play with different guys and see how they play and see where they want passes and how they shoot, how they move there. #So obviously you would love to see him there. #He is the captain of this team and he will be here soon. ”

#Based on his previous experience with #Hall, #Krueger knows what he can add to the #Sabers, who finished 13th in the #Eastern #Conference with a 0.493 point percentage (30-31-8) last season. #Hall helped the #New #Jersey #Devils return to the #Stanley #Cup playoffs and won the #Hart #Trophy, named the NHL’s most valuable player in 2017-18, when he set career highs in the NHL in goals (39), assists (54) and points (93) in 76 games.

#With the #Arizona #Devils and #Coyotes last season, #Hall scored 52 points (16 goals, 36 assists) in 65 games.

“His talent, his ability, his pace, you can already feel it and it gives our whole group a self-confidence when you see someone like #Taylor,” #Krueger said. “#You know, he’s matured in a really nice way. #He’s going to be a very important leader for us on and off the ice.

#Krueger said he felt his relationship with #Hall from their three seasons together in #Edmonton improved immediately when they met #Thursday and on the ice #Friday. #Hall recognized some of the training drills #Krueger performs.

“I didn’t quite remember how to do them or they weren’t second nature to me, but a lot of the philosophies are exactly the same,” #Hall said. “Our meetings are fast, our meetings are on point and that’s how our practices are too. They’re filled with rhythm, they’re filled with speed and high quality. I think he’s a great quality guy rather than quantity and I think that’s a great trait you want to have in a coach, especially a coach when you’re on a new team. ”

#Hall said he was impressed with what he saw on #Friday, which confirmed some of his reasons for signing with the #Sabers.

“I knew coming in that they were a team that I think are about to take a step forward, a team that has some really good attacking options,” said #Hall. “I think at the back too you see #Rasmus (#Dahlin), the player he is after only two years in the league. #Being able to play on a line with #Victor today was awesome.… #You can see his talent. #You may see his photo.

“#And then I think exactly how #Ralph wants us to play with the rhythm offensively, a team that really attacks, and when we don’t have the puck obviously a team that needs to get the puck back as quickly as possible. and play to our strengths. #One of the main reasons I wanted to come here was that I saw this building and saw it with my own eyes today. ”
