A Kelowna DJ is in the fight of a life after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Kelowna musician and DJ Wesley Kormos was diagnosed with blood and bone marrow cancer on January 4.
“I won’t go into the details of the symptoms, but what I thought was fatigue and exhaustion from work quickly turned out to be much more serious,” Kormos says.
Kormos was immediately flown to Vancouver General Hospital and started chemotherapy treatment this week. Treatment is expected to continue over the next 12 months, so Kormos will have to move closer to Vancouver to be closer to the hospital.
A GoFundMe was launched for Kormos and in less than 48 hours it has already raised $ 17,000.
The father will enter as a full-time caregiver, but both will be out of work while Kormos undergoes treatment, “so they expect significant financial stress over the next year,” according to GoFundMe’s post. .
“I am young, healthy, positive and strong willed. Not to mention the incredible support from my family and friends. Ultimately, that’s what will get me through this challenge of a lifetime. ”
