Everton is now a big name in Colombia
Everton are increasing their presence in South America and thanks to the combination of James Rodriguez and Yerry Mina, is now a big name in Colombia.
That’s what one of the region’s leading anglophone football experts, Tim Vickery, says, explaining how James added a new dimension to the Blues’ game.
HITC quotes him as saying to the Transfer Show on Sky Sports:
“Some wrote it.
“And I told you he’s a great player. So when it started so well, the combination with Brazilian problem-solver Allan, it looked great.
“But since the first international window of South America’s World Qualifiers in October, we’ve seen the other side of him, that he’s injury prone.
“So I hope that now in the second half of the season Everton can keep him in good shape because you’ve already seen what he can bring.
“And this partnership with Richarlison, the long diagonal passes he can hit, it’s very, very difficult to defend. ”
On Everton having a new fan base in Colombia because of Rodriguez, Vickery added:
“They sure do. He’s the biggest star in Colombian football and Everton are now very, very well known.
“They are trying to take advantage of this in Colombia.
“They are launching marketing initiatives, trying to bond with the Colombian people. Based not only on James, but also charismatic great center-back Yerry Mina.
