Disneyland to host Orange County’s first mass vaccination site


ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) – Disneyland, which remains closed to visitors, is expected to host a massive COVID-19 vaccination site, Orange County officials said on Monday. The theme park property will host what the county says Orange calls a POD, or large distribution point site for the distribution of vaccines.
Disneyland will be the first of five Orange County Super PODs with the capacity to immunize thousands of people every day. The remaining sites will be announced as their agreements are finalized, with the park’s vaccination site expected to become operational later this week.

“The Disneyland Resort, the largest employer in the heart of Orange County, has stepped up to host the county’s first Super POD site – undertaking a monumental task in our vaccine distribution process,” the county supervisor said. , Andrew Do, Acting Chairman of the Supervisors Board of Directors.

“We really appreciate the support from the Orange County Fire Authority, our cities and our residents as we continue to roll out COVID-19 vaccinations throughout the county.

A Disneyland executive said the theme park is happy to support vaccination efforts.

“Disneyland Resort is proud to help support Orange County and the City of Anaheim with the use of our property, and we are grateful for all of their efforts to fight COVID-19. After a year in which so many members of our community faced challenges and uncertainties, there is now reason to be optimistic with the administration of a vaccine, ”said Dr Pamela Hymel, physician -Head, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.
