Out of almost every member of the WWE roster, Daniel Bryan knows a thing or two about making his way to the top of the WWE Main Event, and he seems to want to give new faces the same. opportunity on Friday night at SmackDown.
Dave Melter writes in his latest Wrestling Observer newsletter that Bryan, who has been a creative influence on the SmackDown brand, has been a big advocate of incorporating NXT talent into their program in order to freshen up the show a bit.
Bryan’s icy finger for NXT’s golden phone comes after Meltzer’s report that Damian Priest was originally scheduled to make his SmackDown debut as Kevin Owens’ partner and “friend”. Owens, happens to be deep in a feud with Roman Reigns and the plans were for Owens to team up with Priest in a match against The Tribal Chief and Jey Uso. Owens, although leaving, found loopholes in the logic that he and Priest had some kind of friendship as they did not share any pasts. Reigns agreed with KO and the idea was ultimately rejected. Meltzer reports that from now on, Priest is expected to appear on RAW in about a month, but notes that the plans could always change.
