is#It was surely finished and dusted at half-time. #Wolverhampton #Wanderers were leading 3-1 against a dismal #Brighton & #Hove #Albion, who watched every inch of a waiting #Championship side. Then, in a second half of bravery, like a squad of 21st century #David #Nixons, #Brighton conjured something out of thin air.
They scored not once but twice and with a hint of luck they might have scored the third second half-goal which would have meant they had equaled their home winning tally in the #Premier #League in 2020 #At present, however, a lot will be done.

#Head coach #Nuno #Espirito #Santo has juggled his slim resources but, until the treatment table clears, his room for maneuver remains limited. #Running out of body without #Jonny #Otto, #Willy #Boly, lender #Dendoncker and #Marcal, they were forced to field two goalkeepers on a bench where only three players had made #Premier #League appearances this season, and they arrived at #Sussex in an unusually uneven form. #More worryingly, they are running out of goals without the fractured skull victim #Raul #Jimenez, with signing teenager #Fabio #Silva having just one league goal under his belt at kickoff. #Regardless, 45 minutes later they had scored three goals in a half for the first time this season.

#Brighton, meanwhile, had its own issues. Their season-finder #Tariq #Lamptey has yet to recover from a hamstring complaint, while #Danny #Welbeck’s knee has prevented his appearance. 2020 brought just one home league win, a succession of almost good enough performances and the ever-growing threat of demotion. They started two points from the drop zone and the rest of the month only promises six points with #Fulham, entwined with clashes against #Manchester #City, #Leeds #United and #Tottenham #Hotspur.

#If the #Wolves’ racing debut suggested they were showered with ambition – #Joao #Moutinho tested #Robert #Sanchez; #Pedro #Neto tested the side net – #Brighton was wrapped in caution, but before #Rui #Patricio made a save he was hitting the ball out of his net. #Canny feeding on #Adam #Webster found #Leandro #Trossard. The mercurial little #Belgian made his way to the right, twisted #Rayan #Ait-Nourri here and there, before crossing low. #Rui #Patricio came in to claim, but #Aaron #Connolly took a bite to guide home his first goal at the #Amex since #October 2019. #At dawn, it was as wrong as a badly set wake-up call.

#If #Brighton had been able to hang on until half-time, the world might have started to turn. #Unfortunately, they only stayed for six minutes. #Moutinho drilled a corner from the left at the far corner of the penalty area. #Nelson #Semedo lacked control but the right-back continued to run towards the starting line. #Lewis #Dunk didn’t respond quickly enough and #Semedo’s deep cross was expertly led on #Sanchez by #Romain #Saiss.

#Fleetingly, it looked like #Brighton could rally. #And they were very unhappy when #Rui #Patricio brilliantly saved #Connolly’s kick after even finer work on #Webster. #Soon, however, the football gods will conspire against them again. #Without pressure from any #Wolves player, #Dan #Burn gave another corner, which was only cleared to #Neto who intercepted and released a cross shot which took a slight deflection along the way. #Sanchez twisted in the air to push him away, but only in the way of #Burn who watched in anguish as he swung into the goal apologetically.

#Now #Brighton’s task was to hang on in order to pass at half time just a drifting goal. There, too, they failed. #Adama #Traoré rushed into the box. #Completing the most miserable 10 minutes of his career, #Burn – of all people – dived recklessly and the sanction decision was not a decision at all. #Neto sent #Sanchez the wrong way.

#Brighton asked coach #Graham #Potter to make some changes at the break and after 50 seconds into the second half a lost cause didn’t seem so lost. #So far invisible, #Neal #Maupay reclaimed #Andi #Zeqiri’s dismissal head and was shot in the area by #Moutinho. #Maupay himself thundered in front of #Rui #Patricio.

#Scoring twice at home in the league for the first time this season was more suitable for #Brighton and suddenly they were born. #Burn almost touched #Solly #March’s cross to achieve ultimate redemption, although a yellow card for a hack on #Traore more accurately encapsulates his evening which quickly ended with his withdrawal. #Trossard’s goal run was bravely blocked by #Conor #Coady and #Nuno quickly bolstered his defense with #Max #Kilman.

#When #Webster walked over to #March’s corner against the bar and #Zeqiri picked up the free ball over the bar, #Brighton’s moment seemed to be over. #This was not the case. #In the 70th minute, #Trossard sent a corner kick and the #Wolves defense stood up and watched #Dunk come home with his second goal in three games.

The comeback was complete, but the match had 20 minutes to go. #Many men who found £ 5 and then lost £ 25, #Wolves tried to turn back the clock, but their ruthlessness in the first half of the year fell into limbo. #This time, however, #Brighton would keep what they had won.
